Some of my favorite meals come between two slices of bread. From childhood memories at Camp Sherman to quick lunches around Central Oregon, these sandwich spots have become longtime favorites. If you're looking for a great sandwich, these are a few of my go-to stops.
Camp Sherman Store
Located along the famed Metolius River, the Camp Sherman Store feels special the moment you arrive. Family-owned and operated, it has a classic, old-school charm that's hard to replicate. My dad took us there for years, and one of our family favorites is adding sour cream and cheddar chips to any sandwich—a little indulgent, and oh so good.
The deli sandwiches are legendary for a reason, and during the summer months, the wait is a small price to pay. Grab your food and then settle in under the trees or along the river to complete the experience.
Village Baker
Located on Bend's west side, Village Baker is an OG. Fresh-baked breads and treats set the bar here, and their sandwiches are filling and delicious.
My personal favorite is the turkey on whole wheat levain with brie, cucumber, and strawberry salsa—a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Their tuna salad is also a winner and you can order it as a sandwich or a salad. Between the breakfast treats, fresh-daily soups, and the fresh loaves available to take home, this spot covers all the bases for a cozy, satisfying meal.
Sisters Smokehouse
Located in Sisters, with a convenient spot in Redmond and a Bend location coming soon, Sisters Smokehouse is a great place to pick up locally raised meats, cheese, jerky, wine, and more.
The sandwiches, however, are the real draw. My sister and I love sharing the Reuben, which is huge and delightfully messy. The Sisters location has a hometown warmth that makes every visit feel special, while the Redmond shop offers a fantastic option for a quick, high-quality lunch.
Beach Hut Deli
With its surf shack vibe and prime location on NW Brooks Street overlooking Brooks Street Plaza and Drake Park, Beach Hut Deli brings a fun energy to downtown Bend.
Offering more than 40 sandwich options, the menu ranges from traditional favorites to creative combinations, with hot, cold, breakfast, and vegan options available. There is truly something for everyone. Grab a sandwich, find a seat, and enjoy some of the best people-watching in town.
These spots are my go-to destinations for satisfying sandwiches around Central Oregon. Each one brings its own personality, a little nostalgia, and plenty of flavor. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch, meeting friends, or heading out on an adventure, they're all worth a visit.
And if there's a sandwich spot I need to try next, send it my way—I'm always looking for my next favorite.
