First of the Month Favorites: The "Reset" List
There’s something about meeting friends for a drink that just resets everything—in the best way. Whether it’s a spontaneous midweek happy hour or a planned catch-up, these are the spots that define the Central Oregon lifestyle for me. From refined Westside corners to "old-school" desert landmarks, here is what’s on my radar this month.
🍷 Viaggio Wine Merchant
If you’re in the mood for something refined, this is my spot. Viaggio has such an elegant, inviting atmosphere—perfect for lingering over a glass (or two) of wine. What really sets it apart is the owner, Benjamin. He is a true wealth of information; I love that I can just tell him what I’m craving, and he somehow knows exactly what I’ll love. It’s that level of high-touch service I appreciate in any business. He and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable and keep things fresh with creative rotations—like the Friday oyster bar, the weekend bubbles bar, and their new weekday pizza nights. With endless wine options and regular tastings, the crowd is always changing and it always feels like an experience.
For a more laid-back but still lively vibe, Olvidemos is such a fun stop—but don't let the casual atmosphere fool you, as the beverage program here is incredibly unique. You literally cannot find their wines or vermouths anywhere else in the world; they are created in small batches in Napa and served on tap. It’s such a cool concept because you can enjoy a glass there or even take some to-go for a sunset back at home. While I’m a sucker for their French onion dip and chips, they also shuck fresh oysters until close. It’s a charming, minimalist spot where you never quite know who you’ll end up sitting next to—in the best way.
🥃 The Bar at Tumalo Feed Co.
An old standard and a little kitschy in the best way, Tumalo Feed Co. is still serving up huge steaks and rocky mountain oysters like it always has. But for me, the bar is really the main event. It’s a piece of Central Oregon history where locals hold court, drinks are poured strong, and the stories practically tell themselves. Whether you come for happy hour, to watch the game, or just to eavesdrop on a little local gossip, it’s all part of the charm. It’s one of those rare places that reminds you of the soulful, ranching heritage that still anchors our community.
Brasada is worth the drive for the views alone. It’s one of my favorite spots for a special happy hour or a date—somewhere that feels a little elevated without trying too hard. I love coming here to soak in the scale of the high desert; the panoramic Cascade views are a constant reminder of why we choose to call this place home. Go for the setting, stay for the sunset, and just take a moment to breathe it all in.
Lately, I’ve been trying to say “yes” more to these little moments—grabbing a drink, sitting outside, and catching up without rushing. These spots have been my go-tos, and each one brings something a little different depending on the mood.
If you have a favorite happy hour spot I should try next, let's meet up!
