Established in 1968 on the site of Camp Abbott, Sunriver was a Resort ahead of its time. John Gray, who also developed Salishan Resort on the Oregon Coast, designed Sunriver to get people out of their cars and back into nature. Consisting of 3,300 acres bordered by the Deschutes River and National Forest, the Resort has over 33 miles of bike trails. It isn’t uncommon to get somewhere within the Resort quicker by bicycle than by getting in the car and driving. In the summer, you can float or fish the Deschutes, ride horses at The Stables, golf on two championship courses (membership required), play tennis or pickleball on one of over two dozen courts, go for a swim or a workout at the Sunriver Homeowners Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) or shop and dine at the many unique shops and restaurants at The Village. In the winter, you can snowmobile, cross-country ski, snowshoe, or make the short drive to Mt. Bachelor for some of the West’s best alpine activities and dogsledding. The Resort also offers a way for you and your family to build traditions through Traditions. The annual events calendar kicked off with The Grand Illumination – an eventful night around the first light of the Resort’s decorative holiday lights. Other events include Bear Factory, Elf Tuck-ins, and Breakfast with Santa.
In addition to the Resort and the community surrounding it, Sunriver also includes sister-resorts Crosswater and Caldera Springs, and is adjacent to the Three Rivers, Oregon Water Wonderland, and Vandevert Ranch neighborhoods.
